This February, all month long, we’re honouring the work of 28 inspiring leaders. Women who are drawing upon and celebrating their culture while making a lasting difference in their community using their gifts. From authors and teachers, CEOs to entrepreneurs, not-for-profit directors, artists, and more, these women are changing the face of leadership.
These are truly women to watch and veza community is so pleased to share their brilliance.
May their stories inspire YOU to rise.
Meet Roberta Nouari.
Roberta is a business professional who, after years of seeing family members fall ill with diseases attributed to environmental issues, decided to turn her attention to seeing how she could change the environment in a way that would make an impact in her own life. After making subtle changes in her own home, she decided she wanted to make a bigger difference by looking at what we put on and in our skin.
Roberta had a close friend whose children had severe allergies to peanuts/nut products. After many conversations, she realized how many products contained things that could be potentially toxic or dangerous. This began a journey of research into the unregulated beauty industry, after which she decided to join the toxin-free movement and invest in Beautycounter. This organization has something called “The Never List”, which is a round up of toxic and potential harmful ingredients often found in personal care products.
Roberta’s mission is to make people aware of why these items are on the list, and why they need to make safer choices in their beauty product choices.
So tell us, Roberta, what inspires you most? What motivates you to get up every morning?
My “WHY”, my purpose, is to leave the world a better place and help others grow through communication and connection.
How do you feel that your actions teach or inspire others?
Living the “why”. Demonstrating my devotion to them and my beliefs.
What is one change you’d like to see in the world?
I’d like to see safer beauty products, which would lead to less “environmental” disease.
Which of your contributions to date have given you the greatest sense of pride?
My family. I’m raising children who care about the world, are compassionate, and have their own “why” for what drives them each day.
Is there anything else you’d like to add?
“It is only when the pursuit to work to our full potential includes working to help others in our lives work to their potential do we actually find what we’re looking for.”
– Simon Sinek
We hope you’ve enjoyed getting to know Roberta!
