This February, all month long, we’re honouring the work of 28 inspiring leaders. Women who are drawing upon and celebrating their culture while making a lasting difference in their community using their gifts. From authors and teachers, CEOs to entrepreneurs, not-for-profit directors, artists, and more, these women are changing the face of leadership.
These are truly women to watch and veza community is so pleased to share their brilliance.
May their stories inspire YOU to rise.
Meet Puneeta Chhitwal-Varma
Puneeta is a blogger, marketer, and mother of two. She lives in Toronto with her husband and two kids and loves the colour her Indian roots bring to her life in Canada. She writes about family, food, and wellness—all with a multicultural flair—along with ways to make every day enjoyable, healthy, and delicious. Punita went from a high-stress marketing career to being a stay-at-home mom, and that didn’t last long. She believes that we all have the power to change the world, and it’s the baby steps that matter: the tiny ripples that can build momentum and start a tsunami.
So tell us, Puneeta: What inspires you most? What motivates you to get up every morning?
The fact that every day is a fresh start and a chance to do over, and do better.
How do you feel that your actions teach or inspire others?
I lead by example: to be a skeptic, but believe in the goodness of the universe.
What is one change you’d like to see in the world?
I’d like to see two changes: more conversation, and more kindness.
Which of your contributions to date have given you the greatest sense of pride?
My kids, as they are on their way to being responsible global citizens. I’m also proud of my blog, MapleandMarigold.com. It is a love letter to my life and travels: maple represents Canada and our home, and marigold’s colour and significance in Indian traditions represents my Indian roots.
